Six armed robbers killed the cashier of a bank in Delhi and fled with Rs 3 lakh on Friday afternoon.

The shocking incident has been captured on CCTV camera. The recorded footage shows the robbers snatching the rifle from the security guard and beating him up. They then shot at the bank cashier and escaped with the looted money.

Two persons conducted a recee of the bank before the robbery, as found out in the CCTV footage by the police. Minutes later, six people, including the two who had done the recee, entered the bank.

The incident took place in a corporation bank in south west Delhi at Khaira village in Chhawla town, near Najafgarh. The robbers had muffled up their faces.  According to senior police officers, the heist took place within seven minutes between 3.30pm and 3.37pm. Robbers held people, including customers and staff members, hostage at gunpoint.

Police identified the cashier who was killed as 45-year-old Santosh Kumar. He belonged to Gaya in Bihar. Half an hour before the robbery, he had gone out to a nearby stall to have tea.

The Delhi police told mediapersons it has been successful in identifying the robbers using the CCTV footage. The robbers belong to Sonipat and Najafgarh, the police said. One person has been arrested. A hunt is on for the other assailants. About 20 police teams have been formed to search for them.
