Congress president Rahul Gandhi courted arrest in Delhi on Friday. He courted arrest during Opposition parties’ joint protest against the ongoing CBI war. The Congress president along with leaders from other opposition parties courted arrest at Lodhi Road police station.
The Congress chief was accompanied by several senior leaders of many Opposition parties. The Opposition parties had organised a protest outside the CBI headquarters in Delhi. They were protesting against what they said was the government’s attempt to interfere in the CBI’s functioning. Rahul Gandhi and other protesters went to Lodhi Road police station to court arrest, reports said.
Notably, the Centre has sent the CBI chief Alok Verma and his deputy Rakesh Asthana on forced leave. This move came after both accused each other of taking the bribe from the same businessman, the report said.
Several Opposition parties participated in the protest. These include Trinamool Congress, Aam Aadmi Party, CPI(M) and others.
