There is some good news for the students who have nightmares about the exam of Mathematics.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will introduce two levels of Mathematics for its class 10 board examinations from 2020 onwards.
The premier education board of the country has said students experience stress before their most “difficult” exam.
Keeping this in mind, CBSE has decided to introduce two levels of Mathematics examination. The two levels will be introduced from the academic session ending March 2020. However, there shall not be two levels of assessment exam for class IX, officials said.
A student who qualifies the Mathematics-Basic exams, will be given an option to appear in Mathematics-Standard at the time of Compartment exams.
First-level would be the same as the one which exists. The other one would be an easier level, the CBSE said. The nomenclature for the two examinations will be – Mathematics-Standard for the existing level of examination, and Mathematics-Basic for the easier level of examination.
Students will be able to choose between the two levels at the time of submission of List of Candidates
“The syllabus, classroom teaching and internal assessment for both the levels of examination would remain the same. This has been done so that the students get an opportunity to study the whole gamut of topics. Towards the end, depending upon their confidence and preparation, they will be able to decide which level of Board examination to write depending upon their aptitude and abilities,” the board said.
The Standard level will be for students who wish to opt for Mathematics at the senior secondary level. The Basic level would be for students not keen to pursue Mathematics at higher levels.
Students will be able to choose between the two levels at the time of submission of List of Candidates. In case a student fails at any level of Mathematics, he/she can appear at the compartment examination.
