Indian cricket’s fast-bowler Mohammad Shami has been charged under 498A and 354A of IPC for dowry harassment and sexual harassment of his wife. Kolkata police submitted a chargesheet against him before the Alipore police court. The charge sheet has come as distressing news for Shami as the ICC World Cup 2019 is on the way. However, he was part of Indian squad which lost 2-3 against in their final ODI series before the tournament.
Shami earlier donated money to the families of CRPF personnel killed during the deadly Pulwama attacks. Shami said, when they represent the country, the soldiers protect the borders. “When we play for the country, they stand at the borders protecting it. We stand with the families of Jawans, we will always be there for them.”, Shami quoted as saying by ANI.
In January, Shami became the fastest Indian bowler to take 100 wickets in ODIs during first ODI against New Zealand. He broke the record of former Indian left-arm pacer, Irfan Pathan. Shami reached this landmark in his 56th ODI while Pathan had done it in 59 matches. Zaheer Khan (65 ODIs), Ajit Agarkar (67) and Javagal Srinath (68) complete the list of top five fastest Indian bowlers to reach 100 wickets mark.
