Like at the airports, the Indian Railways is planning to seal the railway stations. Passengers are required to go through a check-in process at the airports. Similarly, passengers will now have to reach the railway stations before time to avoid any inconvenience. The railway passengers will now have to be at the stations 20 minutes before the departure of their train.
Arun Kumar, Director General, Railway Protection Force (RPF), said that work has already started on an advanced technology security plan in Allahabad. Similar arrangements will be made at Hubli Railway Station in Karnataka. These two stations have been chosen by the Railways for the pilot project.
The RPF DG further said the Railways is planning to seal the railway stations. At some places concrete walls would be erected, while at others CRPF personnel would be deployed. Every entry gates will have security check-in, he said.
Though the passengers will not be required to reach the stations hours before departure, the will have to be there at least 20 minutes earlier, he added.
