In the latest news, P Chidambaram and Karti Chidambaram have been granted bail in the Aircel-Maxis case by the CBI Special court. Chidambaram got the interim bail on a surety of Rs one lakh, according to a News 18 report.

This comes hours after the former union home and finance minister P Chidambaram received a major setback after Supreme Court rejected his anticipatory bail in the morning.

In the morning while rejecting the plea for anticipatory bail, the Supreme Court added that  P Chidambaram was free to apply for regular bail to seek any further relief.

The Supreme Court had also said that Chidambaram won’t be shown all the interrogation transcripts. The court has said that interim bail to the former minister can hamper the investigation at this stage.

The CBI arrested P Chidambaram in a mid-night drama on August 21. Since then, P Chidambaram has been under CBI custody.
