Deceased’s family lodges FIR against two teachers of the school
The Hush Post: Two teachers of a private school in Mayur Vihar in Noida were named in an FIR after a class 9 girl student ended her life by hanging herself at her house in Noida on Tuesday evening. The deceased student has been identified as Ikisha (15).
The police have booked two teachers Rajeev Sehgal and Neeraj Anand with a private school. They are teachers of Social Studies subject.
The FIR has been registered on the complaint of the deceased girl’s father who reportedly told the police that his daughter had complained against two of her teachers and said that they used to sexually harass her and used the deliberately fail her in their subject.
“She told me her SST teachers had touched her inappropriately but I said since I’m also a teacher I can say they can’t do it. It may have been a mistake but she said, she’s scared of them and no matter how well she writes, they’ll fail her,” NDTV quoted the deceased’s father as saying.
The police have lodged cases of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) and under section 306 (abetment for suicide) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the two teachers.
However, the school principal has denied the charges of the deceased girl being sexually harassed by the two teachers.
“It’s an unfortunate incident. The school has been following promotion policies of the CBSE. Let me make it clear that she had not failed, a re-test was scheduled,” NDTV quoted the school principal as saying. She also said that the school authorities will extend their full cooperation to the police in investigation of this matter.
The victim took this extreme step when her parents had gone out and she was alone at their house. When they returned at about 6 in the evening, they found the girl hanging in her room.
