Days after a man flung chilli powder, the Delhi Police on Monday arrested a cleric who was carrying live bullets during his visit to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
According to the Delhi police,”A man was arrested under the Arms Act after the live bullets were seized from him during checking when he went to visit CM Kejriwal yesterday”.
The man has been identified as Imran. He was one of the Muslim clerics who had gone to the CM with a request to increase the salary by Waqf Board.
“He’s a caretaker at Baoli masjid in Karol Bagh. He says someone had dropped it in donation box 2 months back.He didn’t inform police&carried it with intention of throwing it away,” ADCP Harinder Singh told ANI.
Imran told the police that he had tried to meet Kejriwal one-and-a-half-years ago. He could not meet him then. So out of anger he had broken glass panes in the reception area of Delhi Secretariat. The police said they are investigating the matter.
“These attacks are not on me, but on the people of Delhi instead,” the chief minister said.
Speaking at the one-day special session of the Assembly on Monday, Arvind Kejriwal asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to resign if he cannot ensure the chief minister’s security.
Referring to the recent attack on him, Kejriwal said, “In the last three years, four attacks were made on me. These attacks would not have happened if I was not the chief minister of Delhi”.
