The Hush Post: It can be termed as playing a cruel joke with people. Even as a 60-paisa cut in the petrol and diesel prices was a meagre relief to the people who were feeling pinch of constant hike in fuel prices for the last 16 days, it was later clarified that the rate cut was only 1 paisa.
An error in the official website of Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) caused this faux pas. Initially it was said that rates of petrol and diesel had been cut about 60 paisa in metropolitan cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. Later it was clarified that petrol and diesel prices were actually cut by 1 paisa per litre each in the National Delhi on Wednesday instead of a bigger cut that was reported earlier by India’s largest fuel retailer, a report said.
Before that in the morning, the IOCL website had stated that petrol and diesel prices have been cut by 60 paise and 56 paise per litre respectively.
