Delhi assembly elections will be held on February 8, 2020. Last date of nominations will be January 21. Scrutiny of nominations will take place on January 22. Last date for withdrawal is going to be January 24. Counting of votes will be carried out on February 11 and counting will end on February 12 (technical reasons if there is a glitch or certain circumstances).
The term of the present assembly ends on February 22.
There are a total of 1.46 crore voters. Out of these, there are about 80 men voters and about 66 lakh women voters. Apart from this, there are 815 third gender voters. The number of voters has gone up by 12 lakh compared to 2015 assembly elections. In 2015, a total of 1.33 crore voters were eligible to vote in Delhi.
Delhi will have over 13,000 polling stations and 90,000 polling staff will be deployed on the day.
In the last elections, AAP won a lopsided 67 seats out of 70. Three seats were won by the Bharatiya Janta Party. Congress drew a blank in these elections.
