Delhi roads turn red as Left-sponsored Kisan-Mazdoor Sangharsh rally held

The Hush Post: Thousands of farmers, workers and agricultural labourers started their Kisan-Mazdoor Sangharsh rally from Ramlila Maidan to the Parliament in New Delhi today. Traffic movement in central Delhi is likely to be affected as around 4 lakh protestors are participating in the rally. The Delhi Police has said areas most affected by traffic snarls are Dilli Gate, Toklstoy Marg, Ranjit Singh flyover, Jantar Mantar, Minto Road, Paharganj, and New Delhi railway station.

The protesters had been gathering in the national capital since Tuesday and were camping at Ramlila Maidan. They are marching towards Parliament street and will go to Jantar Mantar as well.

They have been demanding better wages, more jobs, better prices for farm produce, end to privatisation, stopping changes in labour laws, and recognition of one crore Anganwadi and ASHA workers as a workforce, among other demands .The protesters feel that the  BJP government doesn’t back the labourers and peasants of the country.

The Kisan-Mazdoor Sangharsh rally has been organised and is being supported by outfits affiliated to CPI(M) — Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) and All India Agriculture Workers Union (AIAWU).

All India Kisan Sabha president Ashok Dhawale, said that comrades of Kerala have come inspite of the terrible floods there and  comrades of Tripura and Bengal have organised the protest inspite of the state organised violence against them. Also in attendance are those who participated in the Kisan March in Maharashtra in March this year to demand a loan waiver and proper minimum support price for farmers.
