The police rescue the child whom the DU girl and her brother had kidnapped from Vasant Kunj locality of Delhi

A Delhi University ((DU) student and her minor brother kidnapped their landlord’s three-year-old son in Delhi for Rs 50 lakh ransom. But the police rescued the kidnapped child before the girl and her brother could get the ransom.
The girl is a first-year student of Ramanujan College of DU. Her brother is a class XII student of a government school, a report said.
According to the police, the duo kidnapped their landlord’s three-year-old son and demanded a ransom of Rs 50 lakh. They kidnapped the child from Vasant Kunj locality of Delhi.
They had initially demanded a ransom of Rs 5 crore from their landlord. But later they reduced the amount to Rs 50 lakh after negotiation, the police said.
The police rescued the child within 24 hours with the arrest of the DU student. The cops also apprehended her minor brother in this case.
The Vasant Kunj police registered an FIR on a complaint by the kidnapped boy’s father.
It came to fore during investigation that the brother-sister duo demanded the ransom from the victim’s father through WhatsApp messages. DCP (Southwest) Devender Arya said that by technical surveillance, the police found that the accused used hotspot to send messages.
The DU student confessed in her interrogation that she and her brother made a plan to kidnap their landlord’s son. For this, the duo hired a room near their house in the Ghitroni area. They kept the kid in that room after kidnapping him, DCP Arya said.
The brother-sister duo then sent WhatsApp messages to the boy’s father and demanded money, the report said.
The police arrested the DU student from her house in the Ghitorni area within 24 hours.
