The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday conducted raids at the premises of some close associates of Robert Vadra, son-in-law of UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi.
Searches were conducted at three locations in Delhi. Raids were also held at locations in Bengaluru. News agency ANI said that ED has evidence that the persons being raided had received money in their bank accounts from defence suppliers. The raids were conducted in connection with financial assets held abroad.
Robert Vadra, a businessman, is being investigated by ED in connection with a land deal at Bikaner in Rajasthan.
Suman Jyoti Khaitan, a lawyer representing Vadra, told reporters outside one of the locations, that the ED raided his ‘close associates’ and business partners in Delhi without even showing any search warrants.
Khaitan also said Vadra had not received any summons, as claimed by some newspapers.
They locked up the premises from inside and not allowing any access to those inside, even to their lawyer, he alleged.
“Is this Nazism? Is this a jail? Is this rule of law?” Khaitan said while talking to reporters.
