Former finance Minister Arun Jaitley had been hospitalized once again. The senior BJP leader was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi on Friday morning. He reportedly complained of chest congestion and breathing problems.

Arun Jaitley has been admitted to the ICU at the AIIMS and is said to be recuperating. During the day, Union Home Minister and BJP President Amit Shah, Speaker Om Birla and Union Home Minister Harshvardhan visited the hospital to inquire about his health.

Earlier in January, Jaitley had undergone a surgery in the United States for a reported soft tissue cancer in his left leg. Ever since, he has been out of active politics. The veteran BJP leader hadn’t presented the Narendra Modi government’s sixth budget. He was replaced by stand-in finance minister and Railways and Coal minister Piyush Goyal  who presented the interim budget for 2019-20.

66-year-old Jaitley had returned to India on February 9 after undergoing skin grafting. The former defence minister had isited the US last month to attend the IMF-World Bank Group Spring Meetings.

On May 14 last year, Jaitley had undergone renal transplant at AIIMS. After having stopped attending office since early April last year, he was back in the finance ministry in August 2018.

In September 2014, he underwent bariatric surgery to correct the weight he had gained because of his long-standing diabetic condition.
