The Hush Post: 95-year-old Justice Rajinder Sachar, the former Chief Justice of Delhi High Court died on Friday at Fortis Hospital.
He was admitted to Fortis about a fortnight ago. He passed away at about 12 noon.
Born on December 22, 1923, Sachar chaired the Sachar Committee, constituted by then Congress-led government. This committee subsequently submitted a detailed report on the status of Muslims — social, economic and educational in India.
Sachar was also a human rights activist. He became the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court in August 1985 and remained in office for a period of four months as CJ Dellhi.
Since his superannuation, he was associated with the People’s Union for Civil Liberties, a rights group.
