Lawyers, police clash at Tis Hazari Court, Delhi; one lawyer, injured

A firing incident was reported from the Tis Hazari Court, Delhi after a scuffle broke out between a lawyer and Delhi Police personnel on Saturday. One lawyer injured and admitted to the nearby St Stephens Hospital. A vehicle was set ablaze at the premises.
According to news agency ANI, a police vehicle hit the car of a lawyer while he was coming to the court. When the lawyer confronted them he was ridiculed and six police personnel carried him inside and thrashed him. Onlookers immediately called the police.

An ANI journalist was also hit by the protesting lawyers. Journalists present there are being stopped by lawyers from covering the incident and their mobile phones are being snatched.

Jai Biswal, Tis Hazari Bar assn’s office bearer said, “The  SHO and local police came there but were not allowed to go inside. We informed the High Court, a team was sent there along with 6 judges but even they were not allowed to go in. When they started leaving, cops fired bullets”.

The Delhi Police has locked gates leading into the court complex to prevent protesters from entering.
According to news reports, lawyers were angry over parking issues in the complex.
