The Hush Post: The Union Government launched Operation Swarn in 2017 to improve the conditions of Shatabdi and Rajdhani trains across the country. A total of 15 Shatabdi trains and 14 Rajdhani trains were to be targeted under this initiative. Under this move, the Amritsar-New Delhi Shatabdi is going to go through some prominent upgrades, which will be a welcome change for commuters.
A budget of Rupees 50 lakhs has been set aside for the upgrading of the train. Under Operation Swarn, the Amritsar-New Delhi Shatabdi will see upgraded interiors which are aimed to improve the travel experience of passengers plying on this route.
Along with better interiors, the government has also planned upgrades along ten other parameters. Onboard cleaning facilities, passenger infotainment systems, modular sanitary fittings in the bathrooms, and better-looking interiors are some of the other planned improvement in the Shatabdi trains.
Passenger security has also been taken care of in the proposed upgrades. A GPS enabled passenger announcement and information system is being put in place. While ensuring passenger safety, it will also ensure that the trains become more punctual.
The coaches of the Amritsar-New Delhi Shatabdi also feature full LED illumination that ensure better lighting. Better storage facilities in the pantry car and on the passenger luggage shelves in the coaches have also been provided.
