Man held for smuggling gold hidden in a bra at Delhi’s IGI airport

In a bizarre incident, authorities at the Delhi’s IGI Airport have arrested a man for smuggling gold in bra. The customs department apprehended the male passenger at the airport and recovered gold worth Rs. 30 lakh from him. He had hidden the gold in a bra and ladies pursue to avoid being caught at the customs.

India Today reported that the customs department acted on a tip-off on September 22 about one passenger arriving from Moscow to Delhi by flight number SU 232. As the accused arrived at the airport, custom officials thoroughly checked his luggage.

Anubha Sinha, joint commissioner (customs), IGI Airport said four gold wires hidden in bra as well as six gold bars weighing 794 grams were recovered from the man.  The market value of gold wire and gold bars is Rs 30 lakh.

The passenger has been arrested under the provisions of Section 110 of Customs Act, 1962.
