Mobile phone found in Om Prakash Chautala’s prison cell

The Delhi police has recovered a mobile phone from the prison cell of former Haryana chief minister Om Prakash Chautala lodged in Tihar jail , officials said on Friday. A surprise inspection had been conducted by the Tihar Jail authorities on Thursday.
According to Additional Inspector General, Tihar, Rajkumar, besides a mobile phone, a charger, tobacco pouch, and a wire were found in the prison cell.
However, Chautala’s co-inmate Ramesh claimed that the items belonged to him, the officials said.
The mobile phone was handed over to the Delhi Police’s Special Cell. The police will ascertain the call details.
Chautala is serving a 10-year sentence in Delhi’s Tihar jail. He was convicted in a teachers’ recruitment scam case in January 2013.
