2012 Delhi gangrape victim Nirbhaya’s parents today asked a Delhi court to hang the convicts in the case soon. The 23-year-old paramedic student was brutally gang-raped on December 16, 2012, in a moving bus in Delhi.

The hearing on the plea will take place on March 2.

Nirbhaya’s parents asked the Patiala House court to expedite procedure to hang all the convicts in the case. They appealed that there should be no further delay in executing the capital punishment.

The Supreme Court had upheld the death sentence to three convicts in the case last year.

The incident had sparked an outrage and huge protests had taken across the country. The protests had pushed the government to overhaul the anti-rape laws.

Nirbhaya’s mother Asha Devi maintains that only the execution of convicts will bring their fight for justice to a logical end. Asha’s husband Badrinath said that the hanging deserves no more extension of time.

Nirbhaya was gang-raped on December 16, 2012 inside a running bus. She was thrown out of the bus after being brutally assaulted. The victim later succumbed to her injuries on December 29, 2012 at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore.
