Nitish Kumar bats for nation-wide alcohol ban; says it was Mahatma Gandhi’s wish

After imposing a total prohibition in Bihar, chief minister Nitish Kumar wants to impose on the whole nation. Nitish Kumar has proposed nation-wide ban on alcohol. Kumar says it was Mahatma Gandhi’s wish.

Nitish Kumar was speaking at a convention on ‘Liquor-Free India’. He said Mahatma Gandhi wanted a nantion-wide ban on alcohol as it destroys lives. The JDU supremo added that the liquor ban should not just be carried out in nearby states but all across the country.

Before Kumar, alcohol-ban had been imposed in Bihar by former chief minister Karpoori Thakur. However, it could not be implemented completely.

The Chief Minister said that he had begun planning for an alcohol ban in Bihar from 2011, and had done so in 2016. Kumar also narrated the process to make sure that the ban was not discontinued in the state.
