The Hush Post: In a good news for the owners of private vehicles, now there is no need to carry the driving licence and the registration certificate (RC) of the vehicle while driving. Now, your mobile phone will serve this purpose. You would be able to use your driving licence and the RC showing the same on your mobile phone if there is a need for the same.
However, for using this facility you will have to provide your details on the Centre government’s DigiLocker or Transport Ministry’s MParivahan Platform.
Doing away with the need of physically carrying the driving licences and RCs, the Centre has issued an advisory for all the state governments to accept these documents when they are produced on DigiLocker or Transport Ministry’s MParivahan Platform.
In an order, the Ministry of Surface Transport and Highways has asked the state governments to consider such electronic documents at par with the driving licences and RCs.
HOW TO USE IT?
For this, the government has started a website digilocker.gov.in. From this website, you can download the DigiLocker App and then can create your DigiLocker App. For this, you have to provide your mobile phone number. A one-time password (OTP) would be provided on your mobile phone and by using the same you can authenticate your phone number. Then you will have to create username and password. After creating a DigiLocker account you can upload your documents on the same. For using the other services of the DigiLocker, you can provide your Aadhaar number too.
