The case comes after several reports of men masturbating in front women in moving vehicles; the Delhi Police arrest the man at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport after the woman makes a distress call to cops
The Hush Post: The Delhi Police have arrested a Non-Resident Indian (NRI) on the charges of masturbating on a Delhi-bound flight sitting next to a woman. The 58-year-old NRI, who holds a Russian passport, was held at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, a report said on Monday.
The NRI was arrested by the Delhi Police after the woman made a distress call to cops. The woman, an Indian, accused the NRI masturbated sitting next to her on board a flight from Istanbul and heading for Delhi, officials reportedly said.
The security control room at the IGI Airport was informed in the early hours of Monday that there was an “unruly passenger” on board a Turkish Airlines flight approaching Delhi, the report said.
The CISF personnel, who guard the airport, reached the flight (TK-716) upon landing and were told that the Indian woman had, in the meantime, made a distress call to the Delhi Police alleging sexual harassment by a co-passenger, the report mentioned.
“It was learnt that the male passenger, an NRI holding Russian passport, was sitting next to the woman in the flight and allegedly unzipped his trousers and started masturbating in front of her,” a senior official was quoted as saying.
When the woman complained to the cabin crew, the NRI was shifted to another seat, he said.
Later the NRI was handed over to the Delhi Police cops, who reached the Terminal-III area of the IGI Airport. The NRI has been arrested after a case under Section 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered against him.
