Pakistan used AMRAAM missile, which can be launched by F-16 fighter planes only to fight global terrorism was used to attack military installations in India. This has been confirmed at a press conference by the three services representatives at North Block Delhi.
The pieces of the air-to-air AMRAAM missile were recovered from East of Rajouri. The parts of the missile were displayed at the press conference.
On February 27, 2019, Pakistani Air Force aircrafts ingressed into the Indian air space. Their targets were a brigade headquarter, a batallion headquarter and ammunition dump.
In the ensuing aerial combat, one F-16 aircraft was shot down by MiG-21 Bison. In the air combat, Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman’s parachute after ejecting dropped him on the Pakistan controlled territory. However, the F-16 he downed too fell into the PoK territory. In all, there have been 35 ceasefire violations since February 26 evening.
