The Hush Post: The Election Commission of India has announced polling for the 5 states of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana and Mizoram.
Madhya Pradesh, which has a total of 230 Vidhan Sabha constituencies, has a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government for the past three terms. The term of this government expires on January 7, 2019. The election will be held on November 28 to all the five states.
Rajasthan, also another big state with 200 assembly constituencies, has historically been a state which alternately goes to one or the other party. The state is at present under the BJP rule, with Vasundhara Raje as CM. Their term expires on January 20, 2019. Rajasthan will go to polls in a single phase on December 7.
Chhattisgarh too has been a BJP bastion for long. Here Raman Singh has been the chief minister for past three terms. The state has 90 Vidhan Sabha segments. The incumbent administration’s tenure will end on January 5, 2019. The elections here will take place on November 12 and November 20.
Polls in Mizoram and Telangana will be held on November 28 and December 7 respectively
Mizoram, with 40 assembly seats, is also a swing state, with governments alternating between the Congress and the Mizo National Front. The present government is that of the Congress with Lal Thanhawla as the CM. The current government’s term will end on December 15, 2018. Polls will take place here on November 28.

The Election Commission also announced the date for state assembly polls in Telangana along with the four other states. Telangana Chief Minister and Telugu Rashtra Samiti (TRS) President Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao had dissolved the state assembly prematurely on September 6. Telangana will go to polls in a single phase on December 7.
