The Income Tax Department searched the house of media baron Raghav Bahl in connection with a case of alleged tax evasion on Thursday, according to media reports.
Bahl’s house in Noida was raided early this morning. The I-T Dept is looking for documents and other evidence related to a case of tax evasion.
The searches are being conducted at the premises of a few other prominent persons as well. The raids are a part of the Income Tax Department action to probe tax evasion by a couple of business professionals.
A well-known media entrepreneur, investor, businessman, Bahl is the owner of the Quint news portal. He was the founding, controlling shareholder & managing director of Network 18 group until the takeover by Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries.
Raghav founded Quintillion Media Pvt Ltd with his wife Ritu Kapur after their exit from Network 18. He has signed a joint venture agreement with Bloomberg to launch BloombergQuint.
Bahl has collaborated with world media including BBC, CNBC, Viacom in various capacities. He has dabbled in social media and was responsible for successful opening of many websites like moneycontrol.com, bookmyshow.com, firstpost, Yatra among others.
