OP Soni, Vijay Inder Singla likely to be inducted in Capt Amarinder govt in Cabinet expansion likely to be effected soon
The Hush Post: Amritsar North MLA OP Soni and Sangrur MLA Vijay Inder Singla are likely to be inducted in the Capt Amarinder Singh government in the Cabinet expansion that is likely to be effected soon. Meanwhile, Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi, Raj Kumar Verka and Raja Warring are said to be out of race for the Cabinet berth if the reports are to be believed.
Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh along with Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Sunil Jakhar and party’s Punjab affairs in-charge Asha Kumari is in Delhi to hold meeting with All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Rahul Gandhi for finalising the names of the new ministers who would be inducted in the Capt Amarinder Singh Cabinet, News 18 channel reported on Friday.
The reports said that the entire Punjab leadership of the party and some MLAs who hope to be inducted in the Capt Amarinder Singh Cabinet are camping in Delhi and lobbying hard for themselves. The names of the new ministers are likely to be announced either on Friday evening or Saturday morning, the report said.
The report said that the names of Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi, MLA from Guru Har Sahai assembly constituency in Ferozepur district, Amritsar West MLA Raj Kumar Verka and Gidderbaha MLA Amarinder Singh Raja Warring are out of the race for induction in the Capt Amarinder Cabinet.
As per reports, the names of Ludhiana West MLA Bharat Bhushan Ashu, former Hockey Olympian-turned politician Pargat Singh are also doing the rounds for induction in the Cabinet. Along with them, Ludhiana MLA Rakesh Pandey and Surinder Dawar’s names are also doing the round and these MLAs are reportedly camping in Delhi and lobbying hard for a Cabinet berth.
Among the younger lot, Fatehgarh Sahib legislator Kuljit Singh Nagra is also in the race.
However, there is little common ground the high command of the Congress and Capt Amarinder share on the names of Indian Youth Congress president and Gidderbaha MLA Amrinder Singh Raja Warring and Sangrur legislator Vijay Inder Singla, though the latter is known to be close to Rahul and is a Hindu face. After all, the CM is keen to have his loyalist Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi back.
From Doaba, Sangat Singh Gilzian is a frontrunner on the basis of seniority and little to no opposition.
