Called terrorist a few days ago, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s slogans at the victory rally were a mix of BJP, CPI(M) and even Congress’s slogans — Vande Matram, Bharat Mata ki Jai and Inquilab Zindabad.
But what he rode to this victory rally was the unprecedented 25 per cent budget on education, mohalla clinics and 200 units of free electricity to people, Aam Aadmi Party won 63 seats out of the 70 seats in Delhi assembly elections.
BJP won 7 seats and Congress failed to open its account. In most of the seats, Congress lost its deposits. However, all Congress leaders through their statements it seemed looked at AAP’s victory with some personal solace.
BJP lost all the seats where the UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath campaigned.
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia won by a margin of 3006 votes while Atishi Marlena won by a margin of 7,000 votes from their respective constituencies of Patparganj and Kalkaji.
Arvind Kejriwal also gave BJP the treatment of their own pill evoking Lord Hanuman’s name and raising slogans of Vande Matram and Bharat Mata ki Jai. A few days ago, a BJP leader had called him a terrorist.
Pertinently, BJP had stationed as many as 200 MPs in Delhi to campaign for the party apart from star campaigners in the form of Yogi Adityanath, Amit Shah himself and leaders like Anuraag Thakur among others. However, it did not help them improve their tally from 3 in 2015 to 7 in 2020.
