A welcoming initiative is in the air as the aviation industry is now providing sanitary napkins both on the ground and in air.
This Women’s Day will bring a change as Vistara airlines will carry sanitary napkins on the flights on the demand of their female travellers. “PadsOnBoard” is the name given to this service which will make Vistara country’s first airline to provide sanitary napkins.
“The airline will provide ISO 9001:2015 certified, biodegradable and organic sanitary napkins. These sanitary napkins are made from plant based fibres which are free from plastic, toxins and perfume. To ensure a comfortable flying experience of our women travellers, we are taking this initiative. However, Vistara’s cabin crew will make announcements in the flights to inform the travellers about the same.”, the airline said in a statement.
Senior Vice-President of Vistara airlines, Deepa Chadha said, “Our core philosophy is ‘Small things make big difference’. This initiative also reflects the ideology of the company. As a woman, I feel a greater sense of pride for being a part of an organisation that’s providing such amenities to their customers.”
However, since last year, Indian airports have also started installing sanitary napkins vending machines. The first machine was installed at Indore airport in October 2017. Since then, the vending machines have been installed at several airports of cities like Kolkata, Jaipur, Vadodra, Port Blair, Trivandrum, Guwahati, Varanasi and Surat.
