Sheila Dixit, who was a Delhi Chief Minister three times and is credited with changing the face of the national capital during her 15-year-old stint as Chief Minister is no more. She died today. She breathed her last in Escorts Hospital here.
Dixit (née Kapoor was born on 31 March 1938. She served for a period of 15 years from 1998 to 2013. She led the Congress party to three consecutive electoral victories in the national capital. In the December 2013 elections of the Delhi Assembly she was defeated in New Delhi by AAP leader and now CM Arvind Kejriwal, who replaced her as Delhi’s chief minister.
Subsequently, she was sworn in as Governor of Kerala. However, she resigned on 25 August 2014. She was appointed as president of DPCC on January 10, 2019.
