Former Delhi CM and later Kerala Governor Sheila Dixit is said to be the front-runner for the post of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president.
After Ajay Maken resigned as the Delhi party chief, former Chief Minister Sheila Dixit is said to be the front-runner for the post.
This means that the old equation of the former political foes is back – it was Arvind Kejriwal who defeated Sheila Dixit in the assembly elections in the year 2012.
In view of her age and health concerns, there might be one or more acting presidents to support her. Names of AICC secretary Devendra Yadav, Haroon Yadav and Rajkumar Chauhan are doing the rounds.
Sheila Dixit has said she is not averse of shouldering any responsibility given by the party.
The decision is likely to be announced in a few days.
On Thursday, Ajay Maken, along with AICC in-charge of Delhi affairs PC Chacko met Rahul Gandhi to submit his resignation letter.
Ajay Maken, who has been suffering from “painful orthopaedic ailment”, is believed to have cited health reasons for his resignation.
