Akali leader Sukhbir Badal, his wife Harsimrat Kaur Badal and his brother-in-law Bikram singh Majithia were arrested in Delhi on Saturday. Police stopped them at Raisina Marg near the Press Club of India.
The arrests were made when these leaders along with their party workers were marching towards Congress President Rahul Gandhi’s house.
They raised slogans against the Congress, Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi.
After the arrest of their leaders, the Akali Dal workers called off the protest.
The leaders were demanding action against the culprits of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
A large number of SAD activists under president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Saturday took out a march from Gurdwara Rakab Ganj to Jantar Mantar.
At Rakab Ganj, Sukhbir claimed that the Congress is responsible for the killing of Sikhs in 1984. Sukhbir alleged that the Congress was protecting the accused. “The Akali Dal has come for justice. Justice has not been given for the past 34 years. The accused have been given poll tickets by the Congress,” he said.
