The Hush Post: Four years after Sunanda Pushkar’s death in suite no 345 of the Leela Hotel in south Delhi, the Delhi Police have finally filed a charge sheet in the case.
Police have said that it was a clear case of suicide and not murder. The FIR in the case was filed under section 302 of the IPC.
Pushkar’s husband, the Congress MP Shashi Tharoor was the accused in the case.
Sources say police have filed the final report under section 306 and 498-A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) which pertains to abetment to suicide and cruelty. The next date of hearing is May 24.
Sunanda died at the age of 51. She was a Dubai based businesswoman who also owned a sports company. Before Tharoor, Sunanda had married Sanjay Raina, a Kashmiri Pandit and later Sujith Menon in Dubai. That is where Sunanda met Shashi Tharoor for the first time in 2007, where Shashi had come with his Canadian wife Christina Giles. Sunanda died in 2013.
