The Hush Post| 6:36 am {one-minute-read| Former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj is no more. She passed away late nigh on Tuesday. Sushma, 67, was admitted at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Tuesday night after suffering a heart attack in the evening.
The senior BJP leader was brought to AIIMS at 10:15 PM and was straight away taken to the emergency ward.
Sushma Swaraj’s body has been taken to her home, Dhawan Deep Building, in Connaught Place, New Delhi. On Wednesday at 12pm, her body will be taken to BJP’s headquarters and the last rites will be performed at Lodhi Road Electric Crematorium at 3pm.
Mortal remains to be kept at BJP HQ, last rites at 3 pm.
PM Narendra Modi took to twitter to condole her death. He tweeted, “Sushma Ji’s demise is a personal loss. She will be remembered fondly for everything that she’s done for India. My thoughts are with her family, supporters and admirers in this very unfortunate hour. Om Shanti.”

Expressing shock over Sushma Swaraj’s demise, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also tweeted, “I’m shocked to hear about the demise of Sushma Swaraj Ji, an extraordinary political leader, a gifted orator & an exceptional Parliamentarian, with friendships across party lines. My condolences to her family in this hour of grief. May her soul rest in peace.”

Condoling her death, the President Ram Nath Kovind tweeted, “Extremely shocked to hear of the passing of Smt Sushma Swaraj. The country has lost a much loved leader who epitomised dignity, courage & integrity in public life. Ever willing to help others, she will always be remembered for her service to the people of India.”

Sushma Swaraj did not contest the 2019 Lok Sabha polls and sat out of the government this year on account of her health. She had undergone a kidney transplant three years ago.

Born on February 14, 1952, Sushma was the second woman foreign minister after Indira Gandhi. She was also the Delhi Chief Minister for a brief period after Saheb Singh Varma resigned.
