The Hush Post: Fifty-three people were killed including 39 in Uttar Pradesh due to thunderstorm and squall since last night. This was confirmed by the Home Ministry.
As per the information received from various state governments, 39 people died in UP, nine in Andhra Pradesh, four in West Bengal and one in Delhi.
Apart from this, 53 people were injured in UP, 11 in Delhi and one in West Bengal. High velocity winds uprooted trees and stalled travel via roads, railways and air services, last evening in several parts of North India, including Delhi.
Thunderstorms also occurred at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Assam, Meghalaya, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu, the India Meteorological Department had said yesterday.
