In Delhi, the wholesale and retail market traders didnot open their shops on Monday to pay respect to the 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel martyred in the Pulwama terror attack.
Praveen Khandewal, the Confederation of All India Traders’ (CAIT) general secretary, said, “No commercial activity will take place in any of the markets on Monday. The entire trading community of Delhi is stunned at this cowardly attack of Pakistani terrorists on our soldiers. This bandh has been called to show solidarity with the families of the martyrs,”.
The traders’ associations will also take out a candle march and organise prayer meetings at various places. Further, he added, the traders’ body is planning to provide financial assistance to the families of martyrs.
Prominent markets, including Chandni Chowk, Khari Baoli, Kashmiri Gate, Chawri Bazar, Sadar Bazar, Connaught Place, Karol Bagh, Rajouri Garden, will be closed, CAIT said.
