A major security breach was reported in Tihar Jail where a woman went through the jail security to meet her lover who is serving life imprisonment in the jail.

A committee has been formed by Director General of Prisons Sandeep Goyal to inquire into the matter. According to the reports, the woman holds a friendly relationship with the Superintendent of Prison No 2 Ram Mehar.

The woman’s lover Hemant Garg reportedly was the mastermind of the plan. He is serving life imprisonment in Tihar Jail and is currently working as a computer operator in the office of Superintendent of Prison No 2 for the last two years.

The reports say that Ram Mehar (the Superintendent) blindly trusted Hemant Garg. As a result of his trust, Garg used the office computer for his personal use.

The probe team is also trying to figure out whether any confidential information of the prison has been leaked by Ram Mehar’s computer.

It is to be noted that underworld don Chotta Rajan, Delhi gangster Neeraj Bawana and former MP and convicted criminal Mohammad Shahabuddin are lodged in Prison No 2.

Director-General of Prisons Sandeep Goyal said, “It is a case of serious negligence. Once the investigation committee submits its report, it will be clear who is responsible for the negligence. Strict actions will be taken against the person involved so that in future no one dares to breach its security.”
