A woman committed suicide by throwing herself under the Delhi Metro on Monday morning. A section of Delhi Metro’s Yellow line was affected on Monday morning after a body was found on the tracks of the GTB Nagar Metro Station.
The deceased, who has been identified as Aisa Khan, ended her life by jumping in front of an approaching metro at the GTB Nagar Metro Station’s platform number 2 on Monday morning.
The Azadpur Metro Police Statiom received information about the incident at about 9:00 am.
Aisa Khan, a resident of Roshanara Garden in Delhi’s Shakti Nagar area, was immediately taken to Bara Hindu Rao hospital after she was found on the tracks but was declared dead on arrival. Khan reportedly died on the spot.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) in a tweet said: “Delay in service between Samaypur Badli and Vishwavidyalaya on Yellow Line due to a passenger on track at GTB Nagar. Normal service on all other lines.” The Yellow line connects Samayapur Badli in Delhi with Huda City Centre in Gurgaon.
However, after a few minutes, the DMRC said operations resumed normally on the Yellow line.
No suicide note was found from the woman’s possession, though, one mobile number was found in her purse.
Efforts are on to ascertain more about the circumstances which led to her death.
