Former chief ministers Harish Rawat, Tarun Gogoi and Siddaramaiah made their way into the CWC, however, Digvijay Singh and Janardhan Dwivedi were left out. Kuldeep Bishnoi found a place among special invitees.
The Hush Post: The Congress Working Committee (CWC) constituted by party president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday exhibited a blend of young blood and experienced hands, though names of senior party leaders Digvijay Singh and Janardhan Dwivedi were conspicuous by their absence from the list. Former chief ministers Harish Rawat, Tarun Gogoi and Siddaramaiah made their way into the CWC, however, Digvijay Singh and Janardhan Dwivedi were left out.
Harish Rawat was appointed as AICC General Secretary and in-charge of Assam in place of CP Joshi.
The Congress’ highest decision-making body has 23 members, 18 permanent invitees, 10 special invitees.
The CWC members include Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Dr. Manmohan Singh, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Ambika Soni, Anand Sharma and Ashok Gehlot among others. P. Chidambaram, Sheila Dixit, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Randeep Surjewala, Asha Kumari, Rajni Patil find their names among the permanent invitees. The heads of party’s frontal organizations like the Sewa Dal, the All India Mahila Congress, NSUI, Youth Congress and the INTUC along with Deepender Hooda and others have been included amongst the special invitees.
It is to be noted that this is the first CWC formed by Rahul Gandhi after assuming charge of the party. The first meeting of the CWC has been convened for July 22.
