A doctor from West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand is facing a probe for allegedly prescribing condoms to a woman suffering from stomach pain.
A grade four employee went to Ghatshila government hospital on July 23 for the treatment of stomach pain. The accused doctor Asraf Badar, who works on a contract basis in the hospital, allegedly prescribed condoms to the woman.
The woman went to the shopkeeper with the medical prescription where she was informed that the prescribed medicine was a condom.
After the woman complained about the incident to the senior doctors, the issue was raised in the assembly by Jharkhand Mukti Morcha legislator Kunal Sarangi. A medical team including a psychiatrist began the probe on Sunday on the basis of woman’s complaint.
Shankar Tudu, in-charge of the Ghatshila sub-divisional hospital reportedly said, “Based on the complaint of the woman, a medical team has been constituted which has started the probe.”
