The Hush Post, Chandigarh: The Amity University has shown interest to set up a state-of-the-art university in SAS Nagar. An official spokesperson said the delegation wishes to set up the institute of higher studies in over 50 acres of land in Mohali. Amity is interested in setting up a university for Science studies, with a multi-disciplinary approach.
President, Amity Education Group, Dr. Atul Chauhan today met the Chief Minister of Punjab Captain Amarinder Singh and discussed the proposal for setting up a campus with a capacity of 20,000 students for which the overall investment will be to the tune of Rs 1,500 crore. The proposed university would have a state-of-the-art campus with residential facility. The university has already received request from parents of many students already studying in Punjab University.
Meanwhile, the CM has directed the Education Department and the Housing Department to take the proposal forward.
The Amity delegation comprised President, Amity Education Group, Dr. Atul Chauhan, Sr. Vice President Amity Group U. Ramachandran, Asst Vice President Amity Education Group Gauravh Gupta, Director and Projects Amity Education Group Ashish Singh. Others present at the meeting included Senior Advisor to Chief Minister Lt. Gen (Retd.) TS Shergill, Media Advisor to Chief Minister Raveen Thukral, Chief Secretary Karan Avtar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary Housing and Urban Development Vini Mahajan, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Tejveer Singh and Principal Secretary Finance Anirudh Tiwari.
