The Hust Post: All schools in Punjab will remain closed on Monday, April 2, in wake of the Bharat Bandh call given by Dalit organizations to protest against the dilution of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

Also, the Punjab government has decided to suspend public transport services across the state on Monday. The PRTC, Punjab Roadways and PunBus Buses would not ply on roads during the bandh, said an official release.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh has appealed to the people of the state, especially the SC community, to exercise restraint and maintain law and order in larger public interest.

Tight security arrangements have been put in place with heavy police force being deployed in sensitive points. The BSF has also been pressed into service.

It is pertinent to note that at 32 per cent, Punjab has the highest population of Scheduled Castes in the country.
