Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has landed himself amidst a controversy after he did a TV ad of a washing powder of a leading company. In the advertisement, Akshay Kumar has donned the clothes of a Maratha warrior. Maratha groups have objected to his act and have lodged a complaint with the police. The ad pertains to washing powder ‘Nirma’.
According to reports, some persons have lodged a complaint against Akshay Kumar at Worli police station. The complainants have accused the ‘Housefull 4” star of making fun of Maratha culture. The complaint also says that Akshay has hurt sentiments of the Maratha people.
Trolls have attacked Akshay Kumar on the social media. Besides, social media users have also criticized the Ad-making company. #BoycottNirma is trending on Twitter. People have sought apology from Akshay Kumar.
One of the users wrote on twitter that he will boycott Nirma products after watching the advertisement. Another said that the pro-Hindu groups won’t accept Akshay Kumar making fun of the Maratha warriors.
