QISMAT

The movie touched many hearts with its unique concept and earned Rs 30 crore at the box office. It is a romantic drama film written and directed by Jagdeep Sidhu. The film is based on Ammy Virk and Sargun Mehta’s unique love story. Undoubtedly, both actors have amazed the audience with their exceptional acting skills.

The film attracted positive reviews from critics while the length of the film became a talking point. Moreover, the film won four awards at PTC Punjabi Film Awards 2019 including Best Actor Critics, Best Actress, Best Debut Director, and Best Playback Singer.

The film is an emotional love story of Shivjit and Bani who, unknowingly, fall in love and later get separated. Above all, the movie is dedicated to true love and is indeed worth watching.

SAJJAN SINGH RANGROOT

Sajjan Singh Rangroot is a war drama film directed by Pankaj Batra. The movie got a highly positive response from both critics and audience. The movie collected Rs 15 crore at the box office in India. Also, the film was released abroad where it got a positive response from the audience with worldwide collection of the film at Rs 22 crore.

The film stares Diljit Dosanjh as the male protagonist and singer Sunanda Sharma as Diljit’s wife. The movie is about the encounter of Sikh soldiers in the British Indian Army serving as Indian expenditionary Force on Western Front during the First World War.

VADHAYIYAN JI VADHAYIYAN

It is a Punjabi film directed by Smeep Kang starring Binnu Dhillon and Kavita Kaushik. The movie collected Rs 17 crore worldwide.

This movie revolves around a man who is in love with a girl and wants to marry her. However, he temporarily loses his eyesight a night before his marriage and fails to see anything. He struggles to hide the fact resulting in many comic situations.

MR. AND MRS. 420 RETURNS

The film is an Indian Punjabi comedy film directed by Ksshitij Chaudhary. It stars Ranjit Bawa, Jassi Gill, Payal Rajput, Karamjit Anmol, Jaswinder Bhalla, and Gurpreet Ghuggi. It is a sequel to the film Mr and Mrs 420 released in 2014. The film with its hilarious comic character has collected Rs 10 crores at the box office.

Apart from comedy, the movie also highlighted the increasing drug problem in Punjab. The movie showcases what all today’s youth indulge in order to achieve their desires and love. In simple language, it is a web of lies that leads to several comic situations.

LAUNG LAACHI

This Punjabi movie starred Neeru Bajwa, Ammy Virk and Amberdeep Singh which got great response from the audience. The movie is the debut of director Amberdeep Singh. The movie has succeeded in collecting 7.30 Crores worldwide. One can watch this movie with their family as well.

A newly married man shares an unusual relationship with his wife. They decide to live under the same roof as strangers as the husband tries to win the heart of his wife. Later, the girl gets involved with another guy resulting into some problems in their own relationship.

HARJEETA

Harjeeta is a hockey based drama film inspired by true stories. The movie is directed by Vijay Kumar Arora and stars Ammy Virk as leading actor. The movie was released in India and Canada and collected 5.45 Crores.

The plot of the story revolves around a young man Harjeet Singh who is raised in poor household but dreams of winning World Cup in Hockey. It truly depicts the hard work behind any sportsperson and the motivation of his/her couch. The couch is played by Pankaj Tripathi.

CARRY ON JATTA 2

A Punjabi comedy film ‘Carry on Jatta 2’ is directed by Smeep Kang and is sequel of Carry on Jatta 2012. The film stars Gippy Grewal and Sonam Bajwa in lead roles. The movie collected 56.27 million worldwide making it the highest grossing Punjabi films of all time.

The concept of the movie is based on Jass who dreams of settling in Canada but fails due to his failure in education. Ultimately, Jass falls for an NRI girl, Meet, but the demands and lies of the couple leads to chaos and confusion.

The movie got nominated for four nominations in PTC Punjabi Film Awards and won all four. The list included Best Film, Best Actor, Best Dialogues and Best Director.

The movie is all set to release the third sequel of the series after two successful parts.

ASHKE

Directed by Amberdeep Singh, it is an Indian Punjabi film based on popular folk dance bhangra. The movie stars Amrinder Gill, Sanjeeda Shaikh and Roopi Gill in lead roles. The movie collected Rs 18 crore worldwide.

The film revolves around Pamma who alienates himself from his passion for bhangra but is reunited to his passion after years by his nephew. Also, he comes across his long lost love.

LAAVAN PHERE

Another Smeep Kang directed movie starring Roshan Prince, Rubina Bajwa in lead roles. The movie collected Rs 7 crore worldwide and impressed the audience with the comic love story. Laavan Phere is a Punjabi romantic comic love story.

The story is about a young man who is unable to marry his lady love because of his angry brother-in-laws and father-in-law. In the process, some comical situations are created. Also, he faces some hurdles to marry the girl of his choice.

MAR GAYE OYE LOKO

It is a Punjabi comedy film directed by Simerjit Singh starring Gippy Grewal, Binnu Dhillon, and Sapna Pabbi. The movie collected Rs 1.8 crore at the Indian box office. The story line was not appreciated by the critics, however the comedy factor is indeed worth watching.

The story revolves around Tittu and his dream of marrying his love Simran who loves a local gangster Gill Baiji. Gill is eventually shot dead and his death changes fate of Tittu forever. The movie was highest grossed film after Carry on Jatta 2.
