The Hush Post: Britain’s Prince Harry and his American fiancée, Meghan Markle, will marry on May 19 next year, confirmation of the date was made on the  KensingtonPalace Twitter feed on Friday. The wedding falls on the same day as the 2018 FA Cup final, at which, as president of the Football Association, Harry’s brother and likely best man, Prince William, usually presents the trophy. It could also lead to a TV coverage clash of the first major royal wedding since 2011 and the biggest football match of the year in Britain. Reacting to the clash with the cup match, an FA spokesman said, “With millions coming together to watch both events at home and around the world, it will be a day to celebrate.”

The couple have chosen to ignore royal tradition and walk down the aisle on a Saturday, royal weddings usually take place on a weekday, so more people in the UK and across the globe can watch on TV or even come to Berkshire on their wedding day. The date May 19 also ensures that the wedding will not overshadow the birth of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s third child in April and allow Kate the time to recover. Markle will join the Queen and other members of the royal family at Sandringham, the Queen’s private estate in Norfolk, on Christmas Day.  Her Christmas invitation is a break from tradition. She is the first royal fiancee invited to Sandringham before officially becoming a member of the royal family. The date also means Harry and his fiancee will not  marry on either the early May or late May bank holidays as wished for by some working Britons.

Queen Elizabeth’s grandson, fifth-in-line to the throne, and Markle, who stars in the US TV legal drama “Suits”, announced their engagement last month with the marriage to take place at Windsor Castle. The 33-year-old prince and his 36-year-old fiancee announced their engagement on November 27 and a few days later the royal introduced his bride-to-be to the public during a series of official events in Nottingham.
