FIR registered against 75 year-old Jeetendra on his cousin’s complaint in a Shimla Police station regarding case of sexual assault in a hotel
The Hush Post: Veteran Bollywood actor Jeetendra has been booked by the Shimla Police in an alleged sexual assault case that reportedly happened 47 years ago. This case has been registered by the New Shimla Police on the complaint of actor’s cousin.
The alleged incident took place 47 years ago, however, the victim thought to proceed only after her parents passed away and she was alone to bear the ignominy and suffering. Veteran actor’s cousin had accused him of sexually assaulting her. Jeetendra, whose real name is Ravi Kapoor, is the son of the victim’s father’s sister (bua’s son).
Earlier Shimla SP Omapaty Jamwal had received the complaint and the police were investigating the matter.
The victim had said in her complaint that it took her years to share her trauma and she finally decided to file a police complaint after her parents passed away. As per the complaint, the incident took place in January 1971, when the victim had just turned 18 and Jeetendra was 28. It happened when he “arranged” for the victim to join him from New Delhi to Shimla on the set of his movie without the complainant’s “awareness”. The victim claimed that on the night they reached Shimla, Jeetendra came to the room in an inebriated state, joined the two beds and sexually assaulted her.
Denying the allegations, Jeetendra’s lawyer Rizwan Siddiquee in Mumbai, has said that the allegations are baseless, ridiculous and fabricated. He also said the charges cannot be entertained by any court of law or law enforcement agencies after a span of almost 50 years.
