The Hush Post: Kangana Ranaut is widely accepted as the ‘panga’ queen as we say in a peculiar Hindi lingo. Be it pulling one on Karan Johar on nepotism, or speaking on politics, or on Bollywood vices, this time around she’s actually taking a panga.

It’s nothing to worry, her next film after ‘Manikarnika’ has been officially announced and the name of the film is ‘Panga’. The film being directed by the much- acclaimed Bareilly Ki Barfi director Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari is a story about the travails of a national-level kabaddi player. Punjabi singer-actor Jassie Gill will play Kangana’s husband in the upcoming sports film and Neena Gupta will also be seen in a special role. Ashwiny made her debut by directing the 2016 comedy drama ‘Nil Battey Sannata’.

Kangana will play a sportswoman in the film which apart from showing the sporting journey of a kabaddi player will dwell on family being the pillar of strength in breaking stereotypes. In an interview to Mumbai Mirror, Kangana said, “When Ashwiny narrated the film’s story, I was completely moved. My family has been my pillar of strength and have always stood by me through thick and thin. Plus, Ashwiny is known for her slice-of-life films and I loved her recent work in Bareilly Ki Barfi”.

The film is being made under the Fox Star banner and will be released in 2019.

‘Panga’ was announced on Monday with the makers of the film sharing photo albums of Kangana, Jassi, Neena and Ashwini with their families. Talking to the media, Ashwiny said, “I wanted to keep evolving with stories that talk about the relationships in a new age Indian family”.
