“I’m sure you will launch this girl in your next project… but you can’t see talent in other struggling actors… your best launching machine – nepotism,” read a comment. Comments like “N for? Nepotism” followed.
“Nepotism at its extreme case! Please post some talented people’s pictures. You need to stop this instantly,” demanded another user.
A comment read: “Nepotism zindabad… he is the Santa Claus of rich people.”
“I have been in the fashion business for 12 years! Worked 16 hours a day and learning the business from ground up. Worked with brands like Superdry, diesel and Express denim I am a technical expert in denims and outerwear! Today I’m sitting unemployed for 8 months because my surname is not famous (sic)! People with no skills, no experience and not paid their dues are given opportunities of a lifetime while people like me grind away to nothingness! Brilliant!” posted a struggling designer.
“Make the rich richer great. Soon you’ll be launching her too cause you’re friends with her mom and shit. Nepotism at its best. There are so many other talented and beautiful people in India who aren’t rich and struggling. You can launch them? But no. I hope you’ll realise that and make a change for the better.”
Actor Kangana Ranaut is the flag-bearer of raising the nepotism issue with Karan Johar.
Although Sweta’s father Amitabh Bachchan too carried a picture of the mother-daughter duo promoting their brand, he did not bear the brunt of netizen’s ire as Karan did.
