The Hush Post: The family of Melody Queen Lata Mangeshkar is reportedly miffed at the use of title song of “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham” (K3G) movie in “Lush Stories” during a scene that shows the lead actress Kiara Advani, a newly-married woman having an orgasm using a vibrator hidden under saree.
Director Karan Johar (KJo) has used the title song of K3G, his 2001 blockbuster movie in one of the scenes of his short film segment of the recently-released four-tiered omnibus Lust Stories. The scene involves the lead actress Kiara Advani, a newly-married wife who finds sexual satisfaction in her own hands, Deccan Chronicle has reported.
The scene has Kiara’s character activating her vibrator, which is when the K3G title track plays in the background. A Mangeshkar family member was quoted in the report as saying: “Why did Karan Johar use Lata Didi’s immortal song in such an embarrassing situation? I still remember how ecstatic Karan was when Didi had recorded the song for Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. He said it was a dream come true. Why turn the dream song into a nightmare now?”
The K3G song was picturised on Jaya Bachchan and is among the most popular songs to have come out from the Hindi music industry. “At her age, we don’t want to expose her to this kind of ugly desecration of her song. But we (Mangeshkars) wonder why he needed to use a bhajan-like song sung in the most revered voice of Lataji to show his heroine in an orgasmic state. He could have used any other song,” the family member was further quoted in the report.
Lust Stories, also featuring short film segments by directors Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar and Dibakar Banerjee, was released on popular video platform Netflix on June 15.
