Oscars 2018: The Shape of Water wins Best Picture award

Fateh Veer Singh Guram @ The Hush Post: Talk show host Jimmy Kimmel, hosting his second Academy Awards ceremony, took potshots at Harvey Weinstein and Donald Trump, among others, as the Oscars 2018 ceremony held in Los Angeles came to an end.

Given below are the different awards won by people and films from various categories:

Best film: The best film award was won by ‘The Shape of Water‘. A romantic fantasy drama, the film stars Sally Hawkins, Michael Shannon, Richard Jenkins, Doug Jones, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Octavia Spencer. It was directed by Guillermo del Toro.

Best Director: Guillermo del Toro for ‘The Shape of Water’. This was his first Academy Award.

Best Actor (Female): Frances McDormand, for ‘Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri’. She has been nominated a total of five times by the Academy over her career, and has won two awards, with her previous being the Best Actor (Female) for her role in Argo.

Best Foreign Language Film: A Fantastic Woman. A Chilean drama film, it has been directed by Sebastián Lelio and stars Daniela Vega and Francisco Reyes.

Jordan Peele became the first African-American man to win the best original screenplay award.

The Shape of Water won the maximum Oscars at this year’s Academy Awards (4) while Dunkirk came in second with three wins.
